INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Areas of presentations are:

• Hebrew language and linguistics;
• Modern Hebrew Literature and culture;
• Biblical, rabbinic, and medieval Hebrew language and literature;
• Teaching Hebrew language and linguistics;
• Teaching Hebrew literature and culture;
• Second Language Acquisition research relevant to Hebrew;
• Technology in the Hebrew classroom.

Presentations are offered in clusters of preplanned thematic sessions organized by NAPH members who call colleagues to join them, as well as of individual papers presented in sessions formed by the conference committee. Presenters can choose to deliver their papers in English or in Hebrew. All proposals for presentations are sent to the conference committee for review. To be approved a proposal has to show academic excellence. Meeting annually in late spring or early summer for three full days, the NAPH annual conferences take place in different US campuses, occasionally abroad, are hosted by members of the association and sponsored by their institutions and/or local benefactors who provide the facilities, receptions, banquets, and refreshments, and suggest guests’ accommodations. Since its establishment in the early 1980s, the NAPH annual conference has continuously grown and in the past few years has featured over 200 different presentations by scholars and promising Ph.D. candidates, with around 300 members in attendance.
