The mission of the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education is to train a cadre of Torah educators who will relay the rich knowledge and traditions of the Jewish heritage with warmth, joy and intelligence. Our student body includes teachers and administrators, regardless of institutional or denominational affiliation, who seek to enhance their skills and competencies while earning an advanced degree in Jewish education.Teachers submit a portfolio of ‘teaching artifacts,’ including video clips of teacher facilitating student centered classroom activities, collated student data, favorited teaching strategies and more, to submit towards a Teacher Training Certificate. Submitting online portfolio of collation of teaching material, videos, artifacts and portfolio of other evidence of successful teaching practices. Thorough training of teaching text, strong Jewish identity and culture in a classroom, with clear knowledge of Jewish Studies, assessments, curriculum mapping and building student centered classrooms. There is an option for Curriculum Writing as a focus instead of teaching. One year supervision of teaching ensures quality control.
Courses are open to non-matriculated students as well, so students may take a course or an entire degree.
This program is most suitable for Orthodox teachers who want to learn pedagogy, curriculum writing, classroom management and school based culture of learning for Judaic Studies.
Models of Teaching I and II courses are taught by Drs. Salomon, Shawn and Turetsky, among others.
