Created through a unique partnership between The iCenter and George Washington University, the Graduate Certificate and Master’s in Israel Education are the only programs of their kind, offering rigorous academic training in the fields of Experiential Education and Israel Studies.
Engage with Israel and the Professional Community
Students learn the historical and contemporary politics, culture, geography, sociology, and language of Israel, through a series of courses (see course listing) that includes an eight-day on-site seminar in Israel. The program’s emphasis on collaborative learning and relationship-building fosters the development of a cohort among participants, and results in a strong professional network of Israel educators throughout North America and Israel.
Choose the Academic Opportunity that Meets Your Needs
Students complete a one-year, 15-credit academic experience, culminating in a Graduate Certificate, and may choose to continue for a second year to receive an additional 15 credits and a Master’s Degree in Israel Education.
Both tracks offer students a unique combination of content, knowledge, pedagogy, human relations, and site-based experiences. Those students who continue on to the Master’s Degree receive further academic training in experiential education and Israel Studies in addition to specialized course work of their choosing, and independent Hebrew language study. All coursework is designed to support direct application of weekly learning into students’ current Jewish workplaces. The program is offered part-time (hybrid on-campus/on-line) for field professionals over the course of two academic years.
Learn with the Leaders in the Field
Students learn with a renowned international faculty whose integrated vision and pedagogical approach represent a new direction in the creation of an academic field of Israel Education. Throughout the course of the first year, students receive individualized mentoring from leading experts in the field.
Join the Next Generation of Israel Educators
The field of Israel Education is one of the most important new areas of Jewish professional growth and communal impact in the 21st century. These programs are aimed at Jewish educators and communal professionals who want to make Israel education a full-time profession, as well as Jewish professionals (educators, community and organizational leaders, clergy) who want to develop competencies for Israel education.
